Andrea Garcia-Sangil

Andrea has worked in the arena of safeguarding children for almost 20 years. She has worked within Local Authorities for 14 years, as a LADO as well as in a Youth Offending Service and at more public known organisations such as The Football Association.

Andrea possesses strong knowledge and experience at management and leadership level in the field of safeguarding and sits on a number of safeguarding panels for faith, education and sports, sharing her expertise to ensure the safeguarding of children. She has contributed to a number of national initiatives to enhance safeguarding in both guidance and legislation. Andrea is also a certified Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Trainer and a member of the Association of Child Protection Professionals.

Andrea is a specialist in safeguarding children, particularly in a position of trust and safeguarding within an organisational context. Her book ‘Adults who Work with Children: Organisational Safeguarding’ will be out in 2025.

Some of Andrea’s professional successes include:
  • Being part of the campaign to ensure that Position of Trust captures those within sports and religious settings.
  • Being part of a task team that created the LADO Handbook with the Dept for Education in 2023.
  • Leading a project between the CPSU and nationwide LADOs to ensure that sporting bodies are making appropriate safeguarding referrals.
Kim Pearce is an experienced safeguarding professional with a background in criminal investigation within a child protection and adults-at-risk arena. Kim has been the Senior Safeguarding Manager for two premier league football clubs, implemented effective and robust safeguarding protocols in both clubs and led high-risk and high-profile cases. Kim has extensive experience in managing reputational disrepute and damage control.
